Volume Flow Rate and Mass Flow Rate
Quick The volume flow rate is the area of the cross section of which the fluid is flowing through multiplied by the velocity of that fluid.
The mass flow rate is the volume flow rate multiplied by the mass of the fluid.
The amount of mass flowing through a cross section per unit time is called the mass flow rate. The dot over a symbol is used to indicate time rate of change. A fluid flows into or out of a control volume, usually through pipes (liquid) or ducts (gas).
