Mass, English System of Units

With regard to the English (or British-American) system of units, the pound should be specified either as:

pound mass = lbm (or lbm)

or

pound force = lbf (or lbf)

More specifically, a pound mass can be represented in terms of a slug, where the equivalency is:

1 slug = 32.174 lbm

Now, a slug can be represented in terms of the foot, pound (force), and second:

1 slug = 1
lbf*s2
ft

This means that the relation between lbm and lbf is:

32.174 lbm = 1
lbf*s2
ft
